Rupp Arena
UK basketball plays their home games at Rupp Arena in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The Rupp Arena is one of the premier sporting event destinations in the state, and has been called the centerpiece of the Lexington Center. The official capacity of Rupp Arena is 23,500. The Rupp Arena has hosted a number of significant events, including the March Madness tournament, and you’ve also gotten inside it with Final Four tickets. It was also regularly the site you’ll go to when you buy SEC Tournament tickets. You also got into Rudd Arena with WWE tickets for 2006 WWE Backlash.
The Rupp Arena was constructed in 1976 and cost nearly $53 million to construct. At the time Rupp Arena opened it was the largest facility constructed primarily to host basketball events, and recently recovered that title. The Arena is named after famed UK basketball coach Adolph Rudd, and he lived just long enough to see it open, as he passed away nearly a year after the Arena opened. With a combination of a fantastic basketball arena and being blessed with one of the most dedicated fan bases in the country, Rupp Arena regularly leads the nation in attendance. Sales of UK basketball tickets have been among the highest in all of college basketball for nearly a century.
